A Parker garage tells you exactly how the family spends its weekends. Two pairs of skis nobody has waxed since the kids left, a snowboard with a cracked edge, four bikes on a rack built for three, a rooftop cargo box that has not been on a roof in six years, and enough camp chairs to seat a soccer team. None of it is trash on its own. Together it is a full container.

Add the basement and the number doubles. Parker homes built from the mid-1990s on came with big finished lower levels, and those rooms collect the furniture that got replaced upstairs — sectionals, a treadmill, a pool table nobody plays, the old bedroom set from the first house. A residential dumpster rental parked on the driveway lets you feed it over a weekend instead of staging everything out in the yard.

The real decision is not size, it is labour. A full-service crew is worth it when you cannot lift, cannot be there, or need the house empty by Friday. A container is worth it when you want to sort as you go, pull the bike that is still good, and stop when you are tired. We deliver, drop protection boards, and come back when you call. Everything in between is yours.

What Actually Comes Out of a Parker Garage

Ski and Snowboard Gear

Delaminated skis, boots that no longer buckle, bent poles and a rack that fit the last vehicle. Bindings and edges make this awkward for curbside pickup.

Bikes and Bike Racks

Kids' bikes outgrown three sizes ago, a hitch rack with a seized pin, flat trainers and spare wheels. Frames nest badly, so load them along one wall.

Camping and Climbing Kit

Sun-rotted tents, foam pads gone to crumbs, a cooler with a broken hinge, retired ropes and harnesses past their date. Bulky, light, and it eats volume fast.

Roof Boxes and Racks

Cargo boxes crack under Colorado UV and the lids stop sealing. They will not compress, so they go in early and get filled with softer junk.

Basement Furniture

Sectionals, recliners, bed frames and the treadmill from the spare room. Break down what you can at the stairs; a whole sofa rarely turns the landing.

Hunting and Fishing Gear

Waders that leak, a rod tube of broken blanks, decoys, old ammo boxes. Live ammunition and primers never go in the container — keep those separate.

Garage Storage Systems

Sagging particle-board shelving, wire racks, pegboard, plastic bins gone brittle in the cold and the workbench that came with the house.

Electronics You Cannot Bin

Colorado bans TVs, monitors and computers from landfill. Set them aside for a county drop-off; see our Douglas County recycling guide.

Sizing a Cleanout You Cannot Fully See

Garage-and-basement jobs are hard to eyeball because half of it is stacked in the rafters. A rough rule that holds up in Parker: one two-car garage cleared to the slab is usually a 15 yard dumpster. Add a finished basement and you are into a 20 yard dumpster, because furniture is volume without weight. Household junk almost never runs heavy, so the walls are your limit rather than the tonnage. If you are torn, take the larger can. A second haul costs a second trip and another day on the driveway, and the HOA clock keeps running either way. Our Parker dumpster size guide walks through the same maths with photos.

Driveways, HOA Letters and Loading Order

Every Parker community we serve has an opinion about containers. Stonegate, Clarke Farms, Canterberry Crossing and Stroh Ranch all cap how long a can may sit and most require driveway placement rather than the street. Check your covenants before you book, and remember a property can sit under both an HOA and a metro district; the town's own guidance at parkerco.gov covers the right-of-way side. Rules change, so confirm with your manager. On the driveway itself, protection boards go down as standard, and we photograph the slab on arrival because bentonite clay cracks Douglas County concrete on its own schedule. Load heavy at the doors, keep everything below the rail, and leave the rear gate clear.

Junk Removal Dumpsters FAQs

Should I rent a dumpster or hire a full-service junk removal crew?

Rent the container if you want to sort as you go and work over several evenings, which is how most garage and basement cleanouts actually happen. Hire a crew if the items are heavy, the house has to be empty on a deadline, or you are managing the job from out of state. Plenty of Parker customers do both: a crew for the basement stairs, the container for everything else.

Can I put old skis, bikes and camping gear in the dumpster?

Yes. Skis, boards, bikes, racks, tents, pads, coolers and climbing hardware all go in as ordinary bulky household junk. Metal frames and rims are pulled for scrap recovery at the transfer station, so no separate sorting is needed on your end. The exceptions are propane cylinders, live ammunition, fuel cans and lithium batteries from e-bikes, which have to be handled separately.

What do I do with the old TV from the basement?

Colorado law keeps televisions, monitors and computers out of landfill, so they cannot ride in the container. Set them aside and take them to an electronics recycler or a collection event; Douglas County posts current options. Leftover paint goes to a PaintCare drop-off instead. These programmes change, so check before you load the truck.

How many days can the dumpster sit on my driveway?

That is usually your HOA's call rather than ours. Most Parker associations allow somewhere between three and seven days, some require written notice first, and a few in Pradera and Idyllwilde want the container out of sight of the street entirely. We can schedule delivery and pickup to fit whatever window you are given. Read the covenants or ask the manager in writing, because rules get amended more often than people expect.

Can you deliver the same day I call?

Often, yes. We run Parker, Stonegate, The Pinery and the Lincoln Avenue corridor daily, and morning calls frequently get an afternoon drop on same-day dumpster rental. Same-day is easier when the driveway is clear and nobody has to move two cars first. If the schedule is full we put you on next-day, and swap-outs are next-day as well.
