Roll-off containers for Sedalia homes and jobsites

Sedalia is a hundred-odd residents at the junction of US-85 and CO-67, and it punches far above its size because it is the doorway to the Rampart Range. Head west on CO-67 and you are into national forest, Devil's Head and a string of canyon cabins and mountain properties. Our work splits along that line. In the village itself there are small historic homes and a handful of businesses. Out the canyon there are cabins, wells, propane tanks, wildfire mitigation slash and long steep drives. The two need different trucks, different sizes and different expectations about how long a delivery takes.

What we know about working in Sedalia

The town was founded in 1882 by ranchers and timber men, and its older frame and stone buildings show that history along the US-85 frontage. Anything built here before the late 1980s should be treated as potentially containing asbestos in siding, floor tile and pipe wrap before demolition. West of town the character changes entirely. Cabins and custom homes climb into ponderosa and Douglas fir along Jackson Creek and toward Rampart Range Road, where defensible space work is not optional and slash removal is an annual event. Cherokee Ranch and Castle and Daniels Park sit on the open ridge to the north. Wells and septic are standard, snow lingers on the west-facing canyon roads well into spring, and the Front Range hail corridor still reaches the lower elevations every summer.

Getting a truck to you

We usually run west on Castle Pines Parkway to I-25, drop south and cut over on Happy Canyon Road to US-85, or take the longer Santa Fe route depending on traffic. Village addresses are simple. Canyon addresses on CO-67 and the forest roads are not: expect switchbacks, single-lane sections, no turnaround at the property, seasonal mud and ice, and low branches. Those get scheduled as dedicated runs.

Routes we run: US-85 (Santa Fe Drive), CO-67, Jackson Creek Road, Rampart Range Road.

Permits, streets and placement in Sedalia

On a private driveway in Sedalia you generally do not need a municipal permit. Placement in the public street or right-of-way is a different matter and normally requires approval — from the borough or township where the road is locally maintained, or from CDOT where it is a state route. Every municipality in Douglas County runs its own form and its own lead time, and older streets here often have no off-street parking at all, so plan the permit before you plan the delivery. It is a ten-minute call that saves a week.

Our permit and placement guide walks through the whole process, and CDPHE publishes the Covered Device Recycling Act rules and the other statewide disposal restrictions that apply to every load we haul out of Sedalia. County recycling and household hazardous waste dates are published by Douglas County.

Dumpster Rental in Sedalia — FAQs

Can you get a container up CO-67 toward Devil's Head?

Often, but not always. Grade, road width and whether the property has a level turnaround are the deciding factors, and conditions change with the season. A dry summer day is very different from March mud or a snowed-in November. Send photos of the approach and the drive, and if the far end will not take a loaded truck we will suggest a smaller container or a staging point lower down.

What is the best way to handle wildfire mitigation slash?

Keep it clean and keep it separate. Limbs, brush and small trunk sections load well and can often be diverted from the landfill as green waste, but mixing in dirt, rock, stumps or construction debris changes the disposal path and the cost. Cut material to about four feet, stack it loosely rather than in a tangled pile, and it fills the box far more efficiently.

Do the older buildings around Sedalia need special handling?

Yes. Structures dating to the town's founding era and the decades after commonly contain asbestos in cement siding, roofing felt, floor tile and pipe insulation, plus lead paint. Colorado requires an inspection before demolition, and confirmed asbestos must be abated by a licensed contractor and disposed of separately. Once that is documented, the remaining lumber, plaster and roofing goes in the roll-off normally.

How quickly can you deliver a dumpster to Sedalia?

Sedalia is about 16 miles southwest of Parker, so it is a routine run for us. Same-day delivery is usually possible if you call before about 11am, and next morning otherwise. Storm weeks and the spring remodeling peak can stretch that, and we will tell you honestly when you call.

Do you charge extra to deliver to Sedalia?

No. Sedalia sits inside our standard service area and the flat rate is the same as it is in Parker. Delivery, pickup, your rental window and disposal up to the agreed tonnage are all included in the number we quote you.

What size dumpster do most Sedalia customers take?

A 20 yard is the most common by a wide margin — it suits kitchen guts, multi-room renovations and three-bedroom house cleanouts. But if you are stripping plaster and lath out of a pre-war house, or moving coal-era brick, stone or concrete, size DOWN to a 10 yard heavy container and take two hauls — that material hits the weight limit long before it fills the box.
